Ningbo Ayuwang Temple

Ningbo Ayuwang Temple is the only ancient temple in China named after the Indian King Ashoka. It was built during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Western Jin Dynasty, and has a history of more than 1,700 years. 
The buildings on the central axis of Ayuwang Temple are, from bottom to top, the Mountain Gate, the Second Mountain Gate, the Pond of Life, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, the Sarira Hall, the Dharma Hall, and the Sutra Library. 
🌟Highlights: 
[One] Ayuwang Temple is the only ancient temple in China named after the Indian King Ashoka. It is famous for the relics of Sakyamuni and the exquisite Sarira Pagoda. 
[Two] The temple has two Yuan Dynasty pagodas, the only ones in Zhejiang Province. They are made of brick and wood, and are imitations of pavilions. They are hexagonal and seven stories high, with eaves and flat seats on each story, and a corridor around the bottom story. 
[Three] The temple also has precious cultural relics, such as the Stele of Permanent Fields of the Great Tang Ayuwang Temple written by Fan of the Tang Dynasty, the Stele of Chenkui Pavilion written by Su Shi of the Song Dynasty, the Inscription of Miao Xi Spring written by Zhang Jiucheng of the Song Dynasty, and 7,247 volumes of the Dragon Sutra bestowed by the emperor. 
✅Must-try: Ayuwang Temple offers free vegetarian lunch every day, usually from 11:00 to 13:00. It is said to be very delicious. When we went there, there were so many people that they started queuing before 10:00 in the morning, so we didn't get to try it.

🚉Transportation: 
[One] Subway: Take Line 1 to Baozhuang Station, exit from Exit D, and walk for about 10 to 25 minutes to Ayuwang Temple. 
[Two] Bus: Bus routes passing by Ayuwang Temple include 759-1, 155, 758, 759-2, 759, 790, 107-1, 162, 750, 756, etc. You can choose the appropriate bus route according to your departure point. 
📝Tips: Ayuwang Temple is very popular. The temple offers free incense, or you can bring your own. You don't need to buy incense from the vendors along the way.
