When it comes to Altay, many people are familiar with this region renowned as the "Golden Mountains and Silver Waters." Covering an area of 118,000 square kilometers, it boasts diverse tourist resources like towering mountains, deep valleys, rivers, lakes, forests, grasslands, deserts, and the Gobi, making it a favorite among travelers. Its popularity soared even higher with the drama *My Altay*!
But did you know? If a trip to Xinjiang isn’t feasible right now, there’s a Zhejiang mountain known as "Little Altay" that’s absolutely worth visiting! With its vast tea fields and breathtaking sunsets, it’s truly therapeutic. Uncle Shuai highly recommends making time for a trip here!
The place in question is Fuquan Mountain in Zhejiang—specifically, the Fuquan Mountain by Dongqian Lake in Ningbo (not the one in Beilun, Ningbo, which is currently closed for cloud-sea viewing). Nestled northwest of Dongqian Lake, it combines mountain tourism with tea plantation tours, offering the unique charm of "one mountain overlooking the lake and sea, embraced by endless greenery."
As summer arrives, Fuquan Mountain by Dongqian Lake presents rolling tea fields, fresh air, and stunning landscapes, perfectly embodying the essence of "Little Altay." The lush greenery stretches to the horizon, as if stepping into the fairy-tale world of *The Wizard of Oz*.
Unlike other famous mountains, Fuquan Mountain offers multiple ways to reach the summit, where the views are incredibly expansive. The interplay of lake and mountain scenery is mesmerizing, and on cloudy or rainy days, the misty peaks create a dreamy, otherworldly atmosphere. Photography enthusiasts will find endless opportunities along the tea plantation paths and winding roads—every shot is a nature-filled masterpiece!
For first-time visitors, there are two ways to explore:
1. **Hiking**: Follow the route "Qianhu Baiting → (Fuquan Mountain - Hengling Hiking Trail) → Longtan Reservoir → Dongdao Ridge Ancient Trail → Fuquan Mountain Loop → Secret Tea Plantation → Bamboo Forest → Qianhu Baiting." This journey immerses you in nature, with streams in the early section, tea fields at the summit in the middle, and a slightly steeper descent later. Perfect for families! Must-visit spots include the "10,000-Mu Tea Plantation," "Phoenix Lake," "Wanghu Peak," "Wutai Sunrise Viewing," and "Fuquan Longtan." The hike takes about 4 hours.
2. **Shuttle Bus**: For a more relaxed experience, take the shuttle bus. Round-trip tickets to the summit cost 25 RMB per person. The park is open from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with the last return bus departing at 4:30 PM. The one-way ride takes about 25 minutes, offering picturesque views while saving energy!
At the summit, beyond the vast and delightful tea fields, you can gaze at the East China Sea and enjoy the sunset! Additionally, Fuquan Mountain allows camping—bring your own tent for a small site fee (equipment rental is extra). Wake up under a starry sky the next morning—it’s pure bliss!
Overall, the scenery is stunning, and the hike is moderately challenging with mostly gentle gravel paths. Along the way, you’ll pass ancient trails, reservoirs, tea plantations, and bamboo forests, immersing yourself in nature’s beauty while enjoying the joy of hiking. It truly feels like a "Little Altay"—a wonderfully healing experience!
