Family Hiking | Cixi Tong'ao Watch the High-Speed Train Pass Through the Tunnel – Super Impressive

As a place I recommend again for family hiking, the 5km classic route at Henghe Tong'ao really understands kids❗
No complicated terrain, but many surprises like watching the high-speed train pass through the tunnel up close, encountering rhinoceros beetles, crossing a single-plank bridge, collecting leaves, and more. The kids fell several times but got more and more excited, even running in the second half.
✅ Start uphill near the high-speed rail track in a clockwise direction, and the final descent is about 1km on a cement road. Both directions can be freely chosen.
✅ The entire route is clearly marked with signposts, mainly cement and compacted dirt roads, with a small amount of gravel. The downhill path is slippery, so hiking poles are recommended.
There are no restrooms🚻 along the way; there is one near the parking lot but in poor condition, so try to use the restroom beforehand.
✅ No supply stations, bring your own water and food. There are trash bins along the way, so bring a trash bag. There really is a lot of trash to see.
📌 Second visit summary
The charm of this route lies in "unexpected surprises everywhere without trying." There is no intense climbing, but kids gain courage and learn about nature during the hike. On the second visit, I found the kids more independent than the first time; not only did they complete the hike on their own, but they also used sticks to push aside branches for me. This kind of growth is more healing than the scenery~
