This Labor Day, I chose a relaxing trip to Dali + Lugu Lake, but I soon realized it wasn’t the best season! Here are the two best times to visit:
📅 Best Seasons:
🌼 June - August: Water caltrop flower season (best in late July). In early June, you’ll only see a few blooms.
☁️ October - March: Morning mist + seagull season (best in October). After that, temperatures drop below freezing ❄️.
🏞 Lugu Lake Travel Guide & Photo Spots
🕒 Recommended Stay:
2.5 Days: Day 1 - Arrive in the afternoon (around 2 PM) → Visit cafés ☕ (Qiu Shan Hotel Café, Qian Shan Ji, Jianglu Youlan, Weiting). Day 2 - Lake tour 🌊. Day 3 - Depart in the morning.
2 Days: Skip the café-hopping and focus on the lake tour.
🚗 Lugu Lake Scenic Route:
🏨 Hotel → Yard Pier → Zhucao Boat Tour 🛶 → Wangfei Pier → Caohai Wetland → Walking Marriage Bridge 🌉 → Goddess Bay 🌊 → (Optional: add RMB 50) → Sichuan Lover’s Beach 💕 → Huyuan Cliff → Lige Viewing Platform 🏔️ → Yunnan Lover’s Beach 💙 → Return to hotel.
✨ A peaceful and breathtaking destination perfect for lake views, cultural experiences, and café-hopping! 💙🌿
