初探女兒國—雲南瀘沽湖

Located on the border between Yunnan and Sichuan provinces, Lugu Lake is the highest lake in Yunnan and the third largest deepwater lake in China.

Under the natural veil of beautiful mountains and waters, there was an ancient and mysterious "daughter country" - the Mosuo people hidden on the shores of Lugu Lake.
The Mosuo are currently the last Eastern ethnic group to retain the matriarchal system, and are unique among China's ethnic minorities; Magnificent natural landscapes and unique ethnic customs cast a strong legend on Lugu Lake.

The Mosuo are the last Eastern people to retain the matriarchal system, so Lugu Lake has a special title called the Oriental Daughter Country. Just like the daughter's country in "Journey to the West", the Mosuo people are dominated by women, and their status is more prominent, and the eldest grandmother is generally the head of the family, in charge of the family's living, eating, production, sacrifices, etc., which is the core of the entire Mosuo family.

We attended the Mosuo Museum and learned about one of their most unique cultures, marriage. Men and women who "go to marriage" only maintain their relationship with feelings, and once they find that their personalities are incompatible or their feelings are weakened, they can cut off their relationship with each other at any time, which shows that although the Mosuo people are in power by the matrilineal people, even the male people also have the right to freely choose their partners, preferring women but not boys.

Lijiang to Lugu Lake transportation: You can choose chartered bus (5-6 hours) or bus (7-8 hours) We were in Lijiang and then asked the local travel agency.
