Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion)

Kinkakuji Temple, also known as the Golden Pavilion, officially named "Rokuonji Temple," is a Zen Buddhist temple of the Rinzai sect located in the northern part of Kyoto. It was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.

Kinkakuji Temple features a stunning golden pavilion situated beside a serene pond. The second and third floors of the pavilion are entirely covered in gold leaf, creating a simple yet magnificent appearance. At the top of the roof stands a statue of the legendary Japanese bird, Ho-oh, symbolizing good fortune.
