Luang Pho Phra Sai: The Revered Buddha Image of Nong Khai

🏖️ Environment/Facilities: Located in the heart of Nong Khai city, the temple is near the bus station and Phothisai Market, the municipal market of Nong Khai.

💞 Why Visit: The temple houses the sacred and revered Buddha image, Luang Pho Phra Sai, a masterpiece of Lan Chang art in the Mara Vichaya posture. Cast in radiant gold, the statue is exquisitely crafted, with a width of 2 cubits and 8 inches at the base and a height of 4 cubits and 1 inch from the lower shins to the top of the head. Currently enshrined in the ordination hall of Wat Phothisai (a royal temple), this Buddha image is deeply respected by the people of Nong Khai as a symbol of their heritage and faith. During the Songkran Festival each year, the statue is ceremonially brought out for devotees to bathe as part of the celebrations.
