- This temple is located in Mueang District, Nonthaburi Province, near Bangkok. It is an old temple since the time it was a monastery during the reign of King Rama V. It has now become a third-class royal monastery.
- During the reign of King Rama V, Wat Buakwan was just a monastery in the middle of a rice field. However, when monks resided there, it began to develop into a temple. Phra Khru Pricha Chalerm or Luang Pu Chaeng initiated the construction of the temple along with devotees who donated land. Permission was granted to build the temple on June 24, 1892, with Luang Pho Cham as the first abbot.
- In 1994, Phra Maha Sai Sukhawaro became the abbot and developed the temple into a prominent permanent structure and education.
