Nestled at the base of Penang Hill, the Penang Botanic Gardens is one of the island’s most cherished green spaces. Originally established in 1884 during the British colonial era, the garden was developed on the site of an old granite quarry and waterfall, which still exists today—giving the gardens their popular nickname, the “Waterfall Gardens.”

One of the highlights is the 1.2 km loop road encircling the garden, shaded by centuries-old trees.
