Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces
The Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces is the only Eastern Orthodox church in the world dedicated to a nation's military forces.
Located about 60 kilometers west of Moscow in the Odintsovo district, within the suburban Patriot Park, the cathedral stands 95 meters tall, is 79 meters long, and can accommodate 6,000 worshippers.
The purpose of the cathedral is to commemorate the glorious deeds of the Soviet Red Army, including the Victory Gallery, which is 1,418 steps long, representing the 1,418 days of the Soviet Great Patriotic War.
The dimensions of the church are all symbolic; the main dome's drum has a diameter of 19.45 meters, symbolizing the last year of World War II, 1945. The bell tower is 75 meters high, representing the 75 years between the year the church was dedicated, 1945, and 2020. Finally, the height of the smaller domes is 14.18 meters, reflecting the conflict that lasted 1,418 days and nights. There are rumors that the steps leading to the cathedral are covered with metal extracted from melted Nazi tanks.
Quite impressive, a friend took me around for a day, and I recommend everyone to go and see it for themselves.
