Above the Clouds — Conrad Osaka Stay Experience

On this trip to Osaka, I stayed at Conrad Osaka, which opened in 2017. The overall experience was good, with a high-end environment and attentive service.

📍 Location | A Quiet Corner on Nakanoshima
The hotel is located on Nakanoshima (3-2-4 Nakanoshima, Kita-ku, Osaka). The area is not a traditional business district, but transportation is fairly convenient. Nearby are the Midosuji Line (Yodoyabashi Station) and Yotsubashi Line (Higobashi Station). It takes about 10-15 minutes by car to Umeda, Shinsaibashi, or Namba, and about 20 minutes on foot to Osaka Station, which makes for a pleasant walk.

🖌️ Design | Like an Art Museum in the Clouds
The hotel was designed by Japanese designer Yukio Hashimoto. The most iconic design features are the 39th-floor chapel and the 40th-floor lobby. The 39th floor is themed "Castle in the Sky," with a striking pure white spiral staircase connecting to the 40th floor, symbolizing the "stairway to heaven." During the day, sunlight filters through the steel structure, and at night, you can enjoy magnificent views of Osaka’s nightscape—perfect for photos!

🏠 Rooms | Excellent High-Floor Views but Slightly Dim Lighting
The room design is understated and minimalist, with a strong Japanese aesthetic, creating a comfortable overall space. This time I stayed in a premium deluxe room on the 34th floor facing south, with a full view of the Osaka skyline! The only downside was that the indoor lighting was a bit dim, making it less convenient for reading documents or applying makeup at night.

🥢 Dining | Signature Breakfast + Executive Lounge Light Bites
Breakfast is semi-buffet style, with some traditional Japanese dishes available à la carte. The highlights were Osaka-style Eggs Benedict, Japanese soba noodles, and steamed seafood egg custard, all with a distinct Osaka flavor! The 39th-floor executive lounge offers light snacks from 6 to 8 pm. The selection isn’t extensive, but the Japanese sake and plum wine are quite complete, so friends who enjoy drinking will likely appreciate it.

💂🏻 Service | Friendly and Attentive without Being Overbearing
There was no special member care before check-in, but the overall service was on point. Staff were friendly but maintained appropriate distance, so it didn’t feel overly enthusiastic. The concierge helped with restaurant reservations, and if you left items at a restaurant, the staff would deliver them back to your room. The executive lounge manager remembered guests’ names, showing thoughtful attention to detail.

💰 Room Rate Reference
This stay in a premium deluxe room cost about HK$3,500 - HK$4,500 per night. Prices are a bit higher during peak season, but if you want to experience a high-end Japanese-style hotel, it’s worth the price!
