A shrine that enshrines Sugawara Michizane, who is known as the god of learning. Since ancient times, the people of Osaka have been familiar with "Tenma no Tenjin-san", and since its founding in 949 (Tenryaku 3), it has been entrusted with all kinds of wishes such as epidemics, learning, and entertainment. During the exam season, it is bustling with many candidates.

The "Daishogun Shrine", which has the oldest history in the precincts, is the place where Michizano stopped by and worshipped on his journey to Dazaifu. It is said that the origin of Osaka Tenmangu Shrine is due to the successive disasters that occurred in the capital after the death of Michisane, so Emperor Murakami worshipped it to calm down the grudges of Michisane.
