Osaka Expo｜Easily Experience Rich Exotic Flavors at the Turkey Pavilion and Thailand Pavilion

Osaka Expo is probably the most cost-effective way to travel around the world, as the cultures and essences each country wants to convey are all organized within the pavilions. Let me introduce two countries I’ve always loved: Turkey and Thailand.
The Turkey Pavilion is located in the Life Connection Zone and usually has little to no queue. The bright red building decorated with hot air balloons immediately identifies it as Turkey. After passing the rotating globe and the magic mirror with Japanese narration, you enter the shopping area, which showcases and sells handcrafted arts with a history of over a thousand years. Turkish ceramics and glazing are colored bit by bit by artisans, piecing together vibrant works. The mosaic lamps are the artistic essence of Turkey—colored glass pieces cut and applied to shaped lamps, making them a must-buy souvenir when traveling to Turkey. Wool-made Turkish hot air balloon ornaments are also quite popular. Interestingly, Turkish Airlines also displays its first-class seats here.

Another favorite among Taiwanese is Thailand. The pavilion is next to the Turkey Pavilion and is planned around Thailand’s SMILE strategy, introducing future visions such as medical care, healthy communities, and living laboratories. The architecture features mirrored pavilions and giant elephants to convey the Thai vibe.
The design firm behind this pavilion, Architects 49, is quite renowned. They also designed Bangkok’s largest department store, One Bangkok, and are skilled at conveying quality through minimalist lines. Upon entry, there is an interactive session where staff teach a few Thai words, and inside the pavilion, giant projection videos interspersed with delicious food and beautiful scenery make you eager to visit Thailand.
Outside the pavilion, starting at 3 PM, traditional dances and interactive performances take place every hour, fully showcasing Thailand’s passionate and lively spirit.
