Osaka Travel Review:
The City of Fun, Delicious Food, and Warm Smiles

Plus, there’s delicious food you have to try on every menu. I must say this trip was absolutely amazing because Osaka is a city full of vibrant colors—in food, culture, and shopping spots you shouldn’t miss!

Start with the ICOCA Card, your lifesaver in Osaka

After landing at Kansai Airport, we didn’t waste any time and quickly bought the ICOCA card, a rechargeable card that you can use on trains, buses, and even to pay at convenience stores. This card makes traveling around Osaka and nearby cities super convenient, and you don’t have to worry about buying tickets every time. It really makes life so much easier!

Cute accommodations in the Namba area

We chose to stay at a small but nice hotel in the Namba area. This area is the center of fun and a major shopping hub in Osaka. The room was compact but very well organized, with a soft bed to rest on after a full day of exploring. On the first night, opening the window revealed the bright neon lights of the city. Osaka’s night felt warm and incredibly romantic.

Takoyaki… a delicious must-try

If you come to Osaka and don’t eat takoyaki, you’re missing out big time! Dotonbori is a takoyaki heaven with plenty of shops to choose from. We tried a famous shop recommended by many. The aroma of the sauce was irresistible, and the first bite revealed big, bouncy pieces of octopus, seasoned perfectly with sweet and salty sauce and mayonnaise that blended perfectly.

Eating it with a smile, I felt like takoyaki is a snack that fills you with happiness anytime.

Okonomiyaki… a heartwarming Japanese pancake

Another must-try dish is okonomiyaki, a Japanese pancake mixed with vegetables, pork, eggs, and a secret sauce, topped with mayonnaise and sprinkled with seaweed. Eating it felt like enjoying a homemade meal made with love.

We chose a small shop near the hotel where the owner personally cooks with a smile. The taste was beyond words—rich and full of love.

Enjoy shopping at Shinsaibashi

Shinsaibashi is a popular shopping area with fashion stores, cute souvenir shops, and trendy cafes. We enjoyed strolling around, picking authentic Japanese souvenirs, and tasting local sweets. We came home with bags full of adorable gifts.

Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine… a peaceful retreat for the soul

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle, we recommend Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine. It’s beautiful and very peaceful. We wrote our wishes on ema plaques, praying for health and good luck. Experiencing the serene atmosphere and lush nature made us feel refreshed.

Universal Studios Japan… the ultimate fun amusement park

Universal Studios Japan is a paradise for theme park lovers. The Harry Potter zone is stunning, like stepping into a magical world, and the Super Nintendo World zone is bright and super fun.

We rode thrilling rides, laughed with friends, and took photos with cute characters. It was a day full of happiness and unforgettable laughter.

Nightlife at Dotonbori… vibrant lights and endless energy

One night, we loved walking around Dotonbori because the neon lights were so beautiful, with music and laughter filling the air.

Strolling along the canal, tasting snacks, and taking photos with the iconic Glico sign made us feel like this is the heart of a city that never stops beating.
