Osaka Castle is one of Japan's three major castles. I haven't been there for many years, and this was my first night visit. What attracted me to visit Osaka Castle at night was the annual winter event "Osaka Castle Illuminage."
Near the entrance, there are light decorations shaped like "shachihoko," ornamental roof tiles shaped like a mythical fish with a tiger's head, which serve as guardian deities protecting the castle from disasters.
The "Osaka Castle Illuminage" event was held from November 15, 2024, to February 16, 2025, at the Nishinomaru Garden. I purchased tickets online in advance (about HKD 100).
The theme of the light decorations revolves around Japanese culture and history.
With the illuminated Osaka Castle main tower as the backdrop, various colorful lights were displayed—perfect for photos.
That night was not as cold as expected, and there were not many visitors.
The brilliant and colorful light art combined with Osaka Castle created compositions that consumed a lot of memory space.
As I strolled around, I started to feel a bit chilly; it was time to head back.
On the way to the subway station, I discovered a unique manhole cover.
