For a 3-night, 4-day trip with a round trip to Kobe, the accommodation on the third night is the newly renovated Grand Prince Hotel Osaka Bay, located near Osaka Port. Previously known as the Hyatt Regency, it is now operated as a shared facility between two hotels.
This setup is similar to Seoul's Yongsan Dragon City (Novotel Suites/Novotel) or Myeongdong's Le Méridien/Moxy. The lower floors are managed by Prince Hotel, while the upper floors are under the Hoshino Resorts Risonare brand. Shuttle buses and facilities are shared between the two.
Although the booking platforms and rooms are divided, the facility operates as one. Floors 6 to 22 are designated for Grand Prince, while floors 23 to 28 house Risonare rooms.
After staying in Izumo, we traveled from Izumo Airport to Oki Islands for a cruise tour, then flew from Oki Airport to Osaka Itami Airport, arriving at the hotel around 6 PM for check-in. A shuttle bus is available from Osaka Station to the hotel.
We had booked a Standard Twin room but were upgraded two levels to a Deluxe Ocean View Twin Room. However, the sparkling wine benefit for ocean view rooms was not included. The Deluxe Twin typically faces the city view, but we were assigned a high-floor (20F) ocean view room.
The hotel operates a shuttle to Cosmosquare Station, making it convenient to visit the Expo, including its nighttime events. However, after 7 PM, returning to the hotel requires individual arrangements. The shuttle runs for about two hours in the morning and evening.
After the Expo closes at 9 PM, it takes about 20 minutes to reach Yumeshima Station, where you can board a train. A transfer to the New Tram takes about 15 minutes to reach the hotel. At the hotel bar, you can use a drink coupon to enjoy a draft beer.
A Lawson convenience store is located on the basement floor (B1F), adding convenience. The indoor pool and gym are free for guests, while the outdoor pool and night pool, which operate in summer, require an additional fee but are available at a discounted rate for guests.
Public transportation includes the New Tram, with Nakafuto Station a 5-minute walk and Trade Center-mae Station an 8-minute walk. The tram operates on elevated tracks like a monorail, arriving every 6 minutes, making it very convenient.
From the room, you can see the colorful trains, which look like charming toys. The elevated tracks connecting the WTC Cosmo Tower Observatory to the hotel brought back memories of my first trip 15 years ago using a travel pass.
Breakfast, while decent, felt slightly lacking in variety and quality compared to other Grand Prince locations. Having visited over 10 Prince Hotel locations nationwide, I would rank this one in the mid-to-lower tier. Nonetheless, Seibu remains a reputable hotel group. Thank you.
