[Hokkaido] "Tour of the White Dragon Womb" where you can see the spectacular blue cave of Otaru

The Otaru Coast Nature Trail is located on the outskirts of Otaru, Hokkaido.

This is a hiking trail that crosses Shimoakaiwayama, 279m above sea level, and Akaiwayama, 371m above sea level, and is known only to those in the know.

One of the trails, the Hakuryu Tainai Tour, is a 1.5km one-way course from the trailhead at Hotel Neuschloss Otaru to Shimoakaiwayama, taking 1 to 1.5 hours each way.

The path is a bit rough, but you can follow the pink tape and footprints.

The first half is an ordinary forest, but the second half is a fairly serious section with cliffs, gravel slopes, and the need for ropes and ladders. Be careful, as it can take up to 15 minutes to reach the summit.

But in the end, the view of the blue Otaru from the cave in the cliff, which is so high that it makes you tremble, is the best.

The cave is home to a wide variety of idols, including Jizo, Kannon, Fudo, the Seven Lucky Gods, and a statue of Mary, transcending religious boundaries, making it a spiritual spot.
