Penang, Malaysia, is known as a gourmet destination and is a great place for cafe hopping. Here are three cute cafes that I recommend 🫶
[1.ae coffee]
A cafe with a great atmosphere. The store was packed with people. There were many delicious pastries and desserts, making it perfect for a break. I actually wanted to eat Thai milk tea panna cotta, but it was sold out, so I ordered a canelé instead.
The canelé was crispy on the outside and more delicious than I expected. I might prefer it if the inside was a little smoother.
For tea lovers, I recommend charoite. It's a drink that makes use of the bitterness and aroma of tea, with the addition of the freshness of berries and rosemary.
I also had a cafe latte, and the bitterness of the coffee came out more than the milk, making it a cafe latte with a very strong taste. I think it's more suitable for people who want a punchy taste rather than a mellow taste.
I think the Muscat Danish would be better if the Danish dough had a little more butter and airy texture. The cream and fruit were delicious.
The staff were also kind and left a good impression.
【2.Bean Sprout Café】
There are many stylish cafes in Penang, but this is also a very nice place. I found it by chance and went in, but contrary to the name, it was not a bean sprout restaurant lol
I ordered Toast 3 ways, but everyone at the tables around me was ordering the same thing, so it might be a popular menu. It's a good deal because you can enjoy 3 types of toast: avocado toast, salmon toast, and egg toast. It's also quite filling, so I think it's just the right size for two people to share. Personally, I think the bread could be a little harder.
I ordered a chai latte, but it tasted almost the same as the chai latte at Coffeebean & tea
leaves lol
It has a stronger milkiness and sweetness than spice.
I liked the atmosphere of this Instagram-worthy restaurant. A cat came in and asked for food, but was chased away by the staff 🐈⬛
[3. Gudang Café]
A stylish cafe with an antique atmosphere. The warehouse-like interior has a high ceiling and a sense of openness. I went there just after opening time, so there were not many people in the store and I was able to relax.
I ordered Hokkaido coffee crepes and dragon fruit juice, and the mille crepes had a strong coffee flavor and were moist and delicious. The chocolate chips inside and the flower petals on top added a nice accent to the aroma and texture. The dragon fruit had a natural taste without sugar and was refreshing.
The staff were kind and comfortable, so it was a place I would like to come back to.
All of the cafes are great for photos! If you're interested, please go and check them out ☕️
