I finally checked out Jom Rock Ipoh Yong Tau Fu in Sea Park, PJ—and it was a delicious nostalgia trip to Ipoh in the best way. The moment I walked in, the place felt clean and casual—a refreshing welcome, especially for yong tau foo.
I tried their handmade fishballs—soft, springy, and totally free of that annoying bounce you get elsewhere. Next up was the Ipoh mountain water tofu (their fried version)—crispy on the outside, with that silky bean curd inside, plus flavorful fish paste. It was a perfect bite of smoky crunch and creamy delight. The fried sengkuang (yam bean fritter) was next-level addictive—crispy, lightly sweet, and honestly better than similar versions I’ve had around the Klang Valley.
Travel Tips & How to Get There
• Address: 14 Jalan 21/19, Sea Park, Petaling Jaya—easy to find right across from 99 Speedmart, same row as KFC.
• Best Time to Go: Early morning; they open at 9 AM daily (closed Mondays), and morning queues move fast.
• What to Order:
• Handmade Fishballs and Ipoh Mountain Water Taufu (fried)
• Sengkuang Fritter for that crispy, lightly sweet oomph
• Chee Cheong Fun with mixed sauces—sweet, spicy, and tangy layers
• Finish with Taufufa topped with Ipoh Soy Milk—silky, not overly sweet
• Why It’s Worth It: You get authentic, hometown-style Ipoh flavors in a clean, casual PJ eatery that knows its heritage—and does it right.
