Praying to the Buddha statue of Somdet Ong Pathom

๐Ÿ˜ Wat Chan Tawan Tok was established in 1857. Originally, there was a village located in a remote forest area, and a temple named Wat Rang Ngern, which is believed to have been built alongside the founding of Phitsanulok city.
โ™จ๏ธ Later, a fire destroyed the villagers' homes and the temple due to the lack of water for extinguishing the fire as it was far from the river.
๐Ÿ• The villagers then relocated the temple to a site near the river. A generous donor later provided the land for the temple, which is its current location.
๐ŸŒณ The temple is named Wat Chan because of the many Chan trees in the area.

Key attractions and significant features within the temple include:
๐Ÿ˜ The Great Vihara of Somdet Ong Pathom, housing the Buddha statue of Somdet Ong Pathom in the Mara Vichaya posture, adorned in the attire of a great emperor, with a glass pavilion.
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ Within the temple grounds, there is also Luang Pho Thong Lai Ma, a standing Buddha statue in the alms-holding posture.
๐Ÿ›• Phra Phuttha Chedi Sa Luang, which enshrines the Buddha's relics and houses the statue of Phra Bhaisajyaguru Vaidurya Prabha Tathagata and a sculpture of Luang Pu Sun.
