Phra Narai Palace, an ancient site in Song Khwae City

🏘 Phra Narai Palace was built by King Maha Thammaracha I (Lithai), the 6th king of the Phra Ruang dynasty, during his reign in Phitsanulok between 1362-1369.
🏠 When King Borommatrailokkanat of Ayutthaya moved the capital to Phitsanulok in 1463, he resided here throughout his reign, and it is believed that additional constructions were made during his time.
🏚 Later, Phra Narai Palace often served as the residence of the Crown Princes of Ayutthaya, including King Naresuan.
🧱 Afterward, no royal family members resided there, and the palace was abandoned.
🏡 In 1992, during the construction of a new school building for Phitsanulok Pittayakom School, which had been located here since 1932, workers discovered old brick ruins while digging foundation holes.
📚 The Fine Arts Department registered it as an ancient site to restore Phra Narai Palace, leading to the relocation of the school.
Key attractions within Phra Narai Palace include:
🏠 The Shrine of King Naresuan the Great.
🏘 The Phra Narai Palace Historical Center, a hub for historical learning.
