Taking a boat along the Chao Phraya River is one of the best ways to see Bangkok. There are a few options, depending on your budget. The cheapest is the local ferry for just 17 baht—it stops everywhere and is packed with commuters, but it’s the most authentic experience. If you want something a little faster and less crowded, there’s the tourist express boat for 100 baht with a day pass—fewer stops but still affordable. Then there are the fancy tourist yachts, which are nice but way more expensive.
The best views are when you head in the direction towards Sukhumvit—you’ll pass by big hotels, old temples, and local houses right on the water. It’s a cool mix of modern and traditional Bangkok. If you sit outside on the deck, you get the breeze and a great view of everything along the river.
It’s a fun, cheap way to see the city from a different angle. Just avoid rush hour if you don’t want it to be too crowded!
