Wat Ratchaburana – a historical corner in the middle of Ayutthaya Island

One of the most important temples not to be missed when visiting Ayutthaya is Wat Ratchaburana, an ancient temple located directly opposite Wat Mahathat. Its striking feature is its large prang, which remains beautiful and powerful to this day.

Built during the reign of King Borommarachathirat II (Chao Sam Phraya) to honor his two elder brothers, who died in a struggle for the throne. This historical significance makes Wat Ratchaburana both archaeologically and culturally significant.

A highlight is the towering prang, which offers stunning photographs from various angles, especially during the late afternoon when the light reflects off the prang, creating a particularly majestic and peaceful atmosphere. The surrounding area is relatively quiet and uncrowded, making it a perfect place to stroll and enjoy some quiet time.
