Wat Phra Phutthabat Ratchawora

Wat Phra Phutthabat Ratchaworamahawihan, also known as Wat Phra Phutthabat, is a first-class royal temple with a long history dating back to the Ayutthaya period. Inside the temple is the sacred footprint of the Lord Buddha enshrined on a stone slab on the shoulder of Suwannabanpot Mountain. Important religious sites include a pavilion enshrining the footprint and a beautifully architectural ordination hall. The unique flower offering ceremony, known only in Thailand, is also included.
Discovery of the Footprint: During the reign of King Songtham of Ayutthaya, a footprint was discovered on a stone slab on the mountain.
Construction: King Songtham commissioned the construction of a pavilion to enshrine the footprint. Subsequently, the ordination hall, vihara, and other structures were continuously added.
Maintenance: This royal temple has been continuously maintained by the king since the Ayutthaya period until the Rattanakosin period. The Footprint: The main religious site of the temple is enshrined on a stone slab on the shoulder of Suwannabanpot Mountain. (Khao Satchapanthakhiri)
Phra Mondop: A square building built over the footprint of the Buddha. It features a seven-tiered spire, green tile roof, and mother-of-pearl inlays on the doors.
Naga Stairs: The stairs leading up to the Phra Mondop feature three naga (silver, gold, and glass) staircases, with five naga heads at the foot. These have become symbols of Saraburi Province.
Ubosot and Vihara: Beautiful architecture in the Ayutthaya and Rattanakosin styles.
Chinese Shrine: Located on the ground floor of the temple, this shrine is a place of worship for both Chinese and Thai people. #WatPhraPhutthabat #MustVisit #SaraburiBuddhaFootprint
