Do you, like me, only know "Jiaxing" but not "Pinghu"? Unexpectedly, I discovered this treasure small town this time~Shanghai and Hangzhou are just 1 hour away by high-speed train, and it only takes 1 hour from Ningbo. The East Lake Citywalk route is organized for you, no backtracking, and you can fully enjoy Pinghu in 2 days and 1 night~a super relaxing and healing town!
🌟 Pinghu Citywalk Route & Attractions Check-in
✔️ Mo’s Manor
The most complete classical manor remaining in Jiangnan! The carved beams and painted rafters are exquisite, instantly transporting you back to the old wealthy families. Great for photos and experiencing traditional architectural aesthetics.
✔️ Nanhetou Historic Street
Head here right after the manor! With bluestone roads and small bridges over flowing water, the street is lined with many artistic shops and local snacks. When tired, sit down for a cup of tea—super cozy.
✔️ Li Shutong Memorial Hall
The memorial site of Master Hongyi, Li Shutong. The building is simple and grand, with exhibits of his life and calligraphy works inside. Calm down here and you can feel a strong cultural atmosphere.
✔️ Nancun Book Pile
A "cultural oasis" hidden by East Lake, with many books and reading spaces. The environment is quiet, perfect for friends who love reading or want to take artistic photos.
✔️ Danghu Ten Games
An attraction themed on famous ancient Go games, featuring chess sculptures and related exhibitions. Don’t miss it if you’re interested in Go culture; the atmosphere is very elegant.
✔️ Baoben Zen Temple
A thousand-year-old ancient temple with bustling incense. The architecture is simple and solemn. Here you can feel a sense of tranquility and also pray and make wishes.
✔️ Pinghu Museum
If you want to learn about Pinghu’s history, this is the place! It has local cultural relics and folk culture exhibitions, vividly showing Pinghu’s past and present. Plus, it’s great for photos.
✔️ Pinghu Art Museum
I was lucky to catch the Li Shutong drama this time! The performance deeply introduced the life of Master Hongyi. There are also calligraphy and painting exhibitions and art events regularly, worth a visit.
✔️ East Lake Boat Tour
After exploring by land, take a boat tour on East Lake! Feel the lake breeze, enjoy the scenery on both sides, and take in the Jiangnan landscape of Pinghu—super comfortable~
✨ Unexpected Surprise
This time I also caught the Pinghu Watermelon Festival! The watermelon-carved lanterns are amazing, lifelike, and preserve the local cultural characteristics very well.
If you don’t want to travel far during the National Day holiday around Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai, come to Pinghu! Fewer people, beautiful scenery, and comfortable—definitely a great place to avoid the crowds~
