Pingba Tiantai, located in Tianlong Town, Pingba County, 27 kilometers east of Anshun , is historically known as the " First Mountain in Southern Guizhou . " A lone peak rises from the plain amidst a cluster of mountains, its steepness is immense. The east, south, and west sides are surrounded by cliffs, with stone steps leading up to the north. Dense forests, bamboo groves, ancient trees, and unusual rocks are also found, along with numerous inscriptions on stone tablets by famous figures from past dynasties.
Ascending the Tiantai Mountain Ancient Trail, one encounters winding paths, towering ancient trees, dangling dragons, and intertwined vines, blotting out the sun. Approaching the summit, the steep cliffs and sheer peaks reveal the Five Dragons Temple, seemingly perched among the clouds. Even after a circuitous route, only the eaves of the temple remain faintly visible, leaving a sense of mystery and suspense, urging one to quickly ascend to the summit for a complete view of the entire temple.
The Wulong Temple on the mountain was built in the 18th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty. It underwent numerous additions and expansions during the Chongzhen, Qing, and Republican eras, ultimately reaching its peak perfection.
