Hometown of Sea Turtles, the First Light on Vase Rock

At six in the morning, I stood before Vase Rock, the most iconic landmark of Xiaoliuqiu, watching the sun slowly rise above the horizon. This rock, sculpted into a unique shape by sea erosion and weathering, resembles a coral bonsai quietly standing by the shore, or perhaps the island's first greeting to travelers.

The tide gently laps against the rocks at my feet, and sea turtles occasionally poke their heads out, as if they too are admiring the serene beauty of the morning light. Rather than coming here just to enjoy the scenery, it's more about experiencing a slower rhythm of life. Xiaoliuqiu's mornings are free from the noise of cars, filled only with the sound of sea breezes and waves—a pure and addictive tranquility.
