Scenic Beauty of Songxi River — A Dragon Boat Festival Outing

During the summer Dragon Boat Festival, the emerald waters of Songxi River stretch like silk amidst the peaks, with ripples shimmering like scattered gold, gently ruffled by the morning breeze. On both banks, lush green hills rise and fall, while steep cliffs drape with curtains of vines. Occasionally, a white egret breaks the reflection, its wingtip leaving a fleeting silver trail that the flowing water quickly mends. A few kingfishers chirp, their calls colliding with the misty cliffs, shattering into crystalline echoes.

Visitors stroll along the wooden boardwalk, their sachets and tassels fluttering like colorful butterflies. Some squat by the river steps, scooping up the cool water to cleanse the leaves of rice dumplings. The deep green leaves against the reddish-brown rocks resemble a meticulous painting sprung to life from a landscape scroll.
