Who would have thought! After spending 3 winters in the Balkans, I finally uncovered these hidden routes with no tourists 😭 No crowded hotspots, just the most authentic snow fun, light and shadow, and stories!
Serbia’s must-visit Ski ZMAJEVAC slope🏂 The snow is as soft as stepping on cotton. After skiing, stay in a wooden cabin in the wooden town, with a cozy fireplace warming you up, snow falling outside the window, and a cup of hot coffee for ultimate happiness~On the way, check out the bullet hole monument and the small house in the river; fewer people in winter make for an incredibly atmospheric photo!
Montenegro’s winter is a photographer’s paradise📸 After snow covers Tara Canyon, it looks like a black-and-white ink painting, and the snow-capped Bobotov Kuk mountain glistens faintly. The small town of Lupjine has more local charm than Kotor, with villagers’ hanging cured meats and snow on the windowsills making perfect shots! When Black Lake freezes, you can hike the 3-kilometer trail with only the sounds of snow and wind—so healing~
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s routes are full of heavy stories⚔️ Step into the Sarajevo War Tunnel, touching the weathered walls feels like traveling back to wartime; the Latin Bridge monument and the assassination museum hold details that changed history, and the Wing of Victory monument looks even more solemn in the snow—perfect for those who love deep travel!
These routes are all ones I discovered chasing snow and fog, with no crowds, just pure Balkan winter~Which route do you want to hit the most? Let’s chat in the comments!
