I used to think the sea in Qingdao was stunning enough, but it wasn't until I visited Yumingzui Village in Huangdao that I truly understood what "breathtaking" means! This little village surrounded by the sea on three sides is like a hidden paradise—you won't want to leave even after spending a whole day there!
📍Located in Xuejiadao Subdistrict, Huangdao District, Qingdao City, Shandong Province. Just navigate to "Yumingzui Community, Huangdao District." If driving, there's plenty of parking space in the village. Taking the subway is also convenient: take Line 1 to Jinggangshan Road Station, then transfer to Huangdao Bus 50, which drops you right at the village entrance. Plan at least 3 hours to explore leisurely, or spend the whole day relaxing here if you have time.
🎫The village is free to enter—no need to spend a penny to enjoy yourself!
Follow this itinerary to hit all the highlights without getting lost:
1. Head straight to the **Silver Beach Boardwalk** upon arrival. This 2-kilometer-long walkway stretches over rocky shores, offering views of the azure sea on one side and uniquely shaped black reefs on the other. At the end, there's an observation deck extending into the sea—perfect for cinematic photos.
2. Next, visit the **Seaside Flower Field**. From mid-May to June, golden coreopsis blooms blanket the area, complemented by layers of pink roses. A half-body shot here will flood your social media with likes.
3. Around 4 PM, head to the **West Coast Sunset Viewing Spot**. The gentle slope of the beach makes it ideal for watching the sun slowly dip into the sea from May to October, turning the water into a dreamy orange hue—no filter needed.
4. At low tide, explore the **Tidal Fun Zone** north of the village. Bring a bucket and shovel to hunt for crabs, oysters, or even the occasional abalone (though wild ones are rare these days).
5. End your day at the **Seaside Coffee** campsite. The spacious, well-kept lawn is perfect for pitching a tent, snacking with the sea breeze, and watching the sunset—pure therapy!
📸Top photo spots:
• The white lighthouse midway along the boardwalk—silhouette shots against the sea are magical.
• The stone path through the flower field—crouch and shoot upward for a floral frame.
• The beach at sunset—flip your phone upside down to capture the sky and sea merging into dreamy purple.
• The reef area—snap waves crashing against rocks for dramatic shots.
⚠️Must-know tips:
1. Coastal winds are strong—bring a light jacket even in summer.
2. Check tide times on a tide app before beachcombing, and stay close—the tide rises fast.
3. Some boardwalk planks are loose—keep an eye on kids.
4. Pack out your trash to preserve this beauty.
5. Village signal is spotty—save driver contacts or bus routes offline.
🍜Must-try local eats:
✔️ **Seafood potstickers**: Crispy bottoms stuffed with fresh shrimp and scallops.
✔️ **Spanish mackerel dumplings**: Huge, tender, and bursting with savory broth.
✔️ **Spicy clams**: A Qingdao favorite—cleaned thoroughly and packed with heat.
✔️ **Seaweed jelly**: Refreshing with sesame sauce and garlic.
✔️ **Draft beer**: Best enjoyed bagged—ice-cold and malty, perfect with seafood.
Spend a weekend here soaking in the sea, indulging in ultra-fresh seafood—this is what vacations are for!
