Qinghai Lake, China’s largest saltwater lake, is a place where vast open waters meet rolling grasslands, creating a peaceful and scenic retreat. We were lucky to visit on a clear day, with the deep blue lake stretching endlessly before us.
Instead of just admiring the view from the shore, we decided to take a boat to the Peninsula one of the best spots to experience the lake up close. The ride was smooth and relaxing, with the water reflecting the sky like a giant mirror. Upon arrival, we found a sand-like beach where we could walk along the shore, feeling the contrast between the soft terrain and the cool lake breeze.
Tipp 1: Bring some snacks, walk to the edge of the peninsula and enjoy the scenery all by yourself.
The lake’s beauty isn’t just in its size—it’s in the way it changes throughout the day. In the morning, the water is calm and glassy, while by afternoon, gentle waves ripple across the surface. Whether you’re taking in the scenery, enjoying the fresh air, or simply watching the horizon, Qinghai Lake offers a quiet and refreshing escape from the busy world.
Tipp 2: Do not stay at the Scenic Area by the entrance, it is crowded and not as beautiful as the other side (boat ride)
Tipp 3: Calculate enough time when you take the boat. We spent almost 6hours overall
