Penang Short Trip – Business + Local Explore

Stayed at Cititel Express Penang and found it to be a great-value choice for anyone who’s in town to eat and explore. The room was small, but smartly designed — modern, clean, and functional, with just enough comfort for a short stay. The bed was comfy, and the decor was fresh and minimalist.
The biggest draw? Location. You’re just minutes away on foot from iconic Penang street food spots and well-loved eateries. If your trip revolves around tasting local flavours, this hotel makes a perfect base.
However, one issue we noticed was the soundproofing. The walls and doors weren’t the thickest — we could hear the neighboring room’s door slamming and conversations at times. Not a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of if you’re a light sleeper.
Overall, a solid option for budget-conscious travellers who want modern simplicity and unbeatable access to Penang’s culinary scene.
