| First experience at Tongqu Jiaguanli. Departing from Chengdu, it takes just 1.5 hours to reach Jiaguan Town in Qionglai.
The bamboo groves rustle along the asphalt road. Turning a corner,
a guesthouse with blue tiles and white walls suddenly comes into view, like a secret realm stepped out of an ink painting.
🏯 The folds of time in the texture of Western Sichuan
The rammed earth walls of the guesthouse bear the cracks of time, yet glow with a warm ochre under the sunlight,
like an elder who has weathered the years, silently telling the stories of the Western Sichuan plains.
The water feature in the lobby reflects the blue sky and white clouds, while the old wooden tables and chairs emit a gentle woody fragrance.
The shifting light and shadow on the spiral staircase, the upturned eaves of the tiled roof—every detail hides the owner's thoughtful design.
🛀 Poetic dwelling in the private hot spring rooms
Among the 33 rooms, my favorite is the private hot spring room.
The courtyard hot spring on the first floor is surrounded by greenery; soaking in the steaming pool, you can watch bamboo shadows sway and listen to birds chirping.
The terrace pools on the second and third floors offer a broader view, capturing the ripples of tea fields and the contours of distant mountains.
The mattress, the same as Marriott’s, feels like a gentle embrace, and the Roomplus toiletries emit the fresh scent of white gardenia.
Even the slippers are thoughtfully divided into A and B types—such warm details touch the heart.
🍵 Stealing half a day of leisure
In the afternoon, order a latte at the café beside the spiral staircase and watch sunlight pour through the glass window onto the pages of a book.
In the evening, play mahjong with friends in the game room; winning or losing doesn’t matter, what matters is the laughter filling the room.
At night, gaze at the starry sky from the outdoor hot spring pool, sip a slightly intoxicating drink, and let all fatigue dissipate with the steam.
🍜 Jiaguan memories on the tip of the tongue
The guesthouse breakfast’s Zheng buns are soft and juicy, leaving a fragrant taste with every bite.
The Liu family’s meat rice balls on market days are rare to find; the savory meat filling mixed with the glutinous rice is unforgettable.
If you want to try local specialties, head to Zouji Restaurant for a meal—the dishes are spicy, fresh, and perfectly suit Sichuan tastes.
🚶♀ Poetic strolls between mountains and waters
The guesthouse is only a 2-minute drive from Jiaguan Ancient Town, where the old teahouses on the bluestone streets emit the aroma of tea, and behind the weathered wooden doors lies the craftsmanship of artisans.
Ten minutes away by car is Tiantai Mountain, a summer resort; the firefly valley glows like stars fallen to earth, and the roar of Panlong Waterfall makes you forget your worries.
If time allows, you can also hike in the Western Sichuan Bamboo Sea, where the cool bamboo forest washes away the summer heat.
Here, time slows down so much that you can hear your own heartbeat and the whispers of the mountains and waters.
Tongqu Jiaguanli is not just simple accommodation; it is a dialogue with nature and with yourself.
