Zhougong Temple||Zhougong Temple is located on the southern foot of Fenghuang Mountain, not far from the Folk Village in Qishan County, Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. It was first built in 619 AD by Emperor Gaozu of Tang, Li Yuan, in memory of Duke Zhou’s virtue, wisdom and diligence.
The scenic area is full of towering ancient trees, nestled against the mountains and beside the water. The oldest tree is 1,700 years old. There is also a Runde Spring, which is one of the sources of the ancient Qi River. Although it is winter, the scenery is still pleasant.
Walking past the East and West Theater Buildings, we saw a building with a plaque that read "The Wind Blows from the South", which comes from the "Book of Songs·Daya·Juan'a" which says "There is Juanzhe A, the wind blows from the south". This place was called "Gu Juan'a" in ancient times.
After passing this gate is the statue of Zhou Gong and the Bafeng Pavilion. The exhibition halls on both sides are for anti-corruption education with Zhou Gong as a model of diligence and honesty.
Next is the main building of the scenic area, the Three Dukes Hall (Duke of Zhou, Duke of Shao, and Duke Tai), and opposite each hall is the exhibition hall of its deeds.
We followed the signs and toured up to the gate of Phoenix Mountain. This mountain is the place where "Phoenix Ming Qishan" was 3,000 years ago.
There are steps and gentle slopes leading up the mountain. There are also many pavilions with themes based on the stories of Zhou Gong along the way. It is not very high and you can reach the top of the mountain very quickly. Standing in front of the large phoenix sculpture, you feel very happy.
When I was going down the mountain, I saw a building with a hip roof in the distance. I wondered what kind of building this was. When I got closer, I found that the square behind it was the tomb of Zhou Gong Ji Dan, and the building in front was the Yuansheng Temple.
Walk straight inward on the right side of the entrance to the scenic area, you will see a high staircase with blessings of success on it. Go up and walk back, you will see it at the end.
We toured the entire scenic area for more than four hours. Not only did we get some exercise in our body, but most importantly, we felt the spirit of Zhou Gong, the founder of Confucianism.
