The skyline of Quanzhou is defined by the 2 iconic towers of Kaiyuan Temple, Quanzhou's most famous landmark. No matter where you go in the city you can always spot them from a distance.

🙏 Dating back to the Tang dynasty, the Temple is a fascinating display of rich cultural elements including Hindu icons, demonstrating Quanzhou's vibrant history as a major player in the maritime Silk Road.

The towers themselves bear elaborate wood carvings and are impressive to see, having survived major earthquakes in their long history. The courtyard and back garden is also charming and calming to walk through.

Tour guides are available at the front of the temple but if you'd like a simple quick walk through by yourself, you can also just enter for free. Definitely worth a visit 👍
