Reykjavik

Hallgrímskirkja Church
Highlights: We couldn’t miss this one it’s the tall, spaceship-looking church you’ll see from almost anywhere in Reykjavik. We took the elevator to the top and got a fantastic view over the colorful rooftops and the sea. The architecture is unlike anything we’ve seen inspired by Iceland’s lava formations.

Harpa Concert Hall
Highlights: Right by the water, Harpa is a beautiful glass building that seems to change with the light. We stopped in just to look around and ended up staying for coffee and live music in the lobby. Even if you don’t catch a concert, it’s worth walking through especially around sunset when the glass really glows.

Reykjavik Old Harbour
Highlights: We spent a relaxed afternoon here wandering along the docks. The old fishing area has turned into a cozy neighborhood full of small restaurants, street food trucks, and places offering whale watching tours. We grabbed fish and chips and sat by the water, watching boats come and go.

Perlan – Wonders of Iceland
Highlights: This spot surprised us. From the outside, it looks like a strange futuristic dome on a hill but inside there’s a full-on ice cave, a planetarium, and exhibits about volcanoes and glaciers. The view from the observation deck is one of the best in Reykjavik, especially at sunset.
