The Selarón Steps (Portuguese: Escadaria Selarón) are a world-famous staircase located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from Joaquim Silva Street to Martín Street, spanning the Lapa and Santa Teresa neighborhoods. The Selron Stairs have a total of 215 steps, are 125 meters long, and use more than 2,000 tiles from more than 60 countries around the world.

The Selarón Steps were built from 1990 to 2013 and are the work of Chilean-born artist Selarón. They are called "My Tribute to the Brazilian People." Maybe it’s the colors he used! In 1990, painter Celerón began renovating the dilapidated steps along the front of his house, covering them with blue, green and yellow tiles – the colors of the Brazilian flag.

Initially, the tiles used in the work came from various construction sites in Rio and from urban waste on the streets. Later, most of the tiles were donated by tourists from all over the world. Of the more than 2,000 tiles, 300 were hand-painted by Seleron, depicting a pregnant African woman.

In fact, the security in Brazil is not good. When I visited the aqueduct bridge, a homeless person followed me all the way. He took a quick photo and left quickly!
