If you’re visiting St. Petersburg and want to step into the elegance of Russia’s imperial past, Pavlovsk Palace is a gem worth exploring.
🏛️ Built in the late 18th century for Emperor Paul I, the palace showcases exquisite classical architecture, lavish interiors, and a glimpse into the private life of the Romanovs.
🌳 Surrounding the palace is Pavlovsk Park, one of the largest landscaped parks in Europe. It’s perfect for long walks, boat rides, or simply relaxing in nature. Bicycles are available for rent inside the park — a great way to cover more ground and discover hidden corners.
🚆 Getting there: Pavlovsk is just 30 km south of St. Petersburg. Take a suburban train from Vitebsky Railway Station (or Kupchino) to Pavlovsk Station — the journey takes about 30 minutes. From there, it’s a short walk to the park entrance.
⏰ Best time to visit: Late spring to early autumn, when the gardens are in bloom, or winter, when the snow transforms the park into a fairy tale. Bonus tip: entry to the park is free until 9:00 am — a perfect time for an early stroll.
