**Savior on the Blood** is one of the most beautiful and mysterious churches in St. Petersburg!
**History of the Church** began in 1881 when an assassination attempt was made on Emperor Alexander II at this very spot. The church was built as a memorial to the martyred tsar by order of Emperor Alexander III. Construction lasted 24 years, from 1883 to 1907.
