The Mariinsky Palace is one of the most important buildings in St. Petersburg! That's because it houses the city's Legislative Assembly. It's where laws are passed, the budget approved, and positions appointed.

⚪However, the palace was originally a wedding gift for the daughter of Emperor Nicholas I. Her name was Maria, hence its name, the Mariinsky Palace. This grandiose gift was built in 1844.

⚪The interior is stunningly luxurious, especially the Ballet Hall, the Pompeii Hall, the library, and the rotunda. What a joy it is to work here every day.
