Trendy Dinner Spot in Sakae You’ll Want to Share with Everyone

We visited this place as a family on a Sunday evening.

The specialty here is their modern-style 'genshiyaki' (primitive grilling). If you sit at the counter, you can enjoy watching the live kitchen action. Since we had kids with us, we were seated at a table instead.

The staff kindly explained the menu in detail, making us want to try everything!

Here’s what we ordered:

● Nuka-zuke Mackerel (fermented in rice bran)
● Bonito Straw-Grilled
● Seared Wagyu Beef (100g)
● Salmon and Ikura Harakomeshi (salmon and roe rice bowl)
● Bolognese

Although we ended up ordering mostly hearty dishes, the fish-focused menu made it surprisingly easy to finish everything.

The standout dish was the Nuka-zuke Mackerel. It was rich, fatty, and packed with flavor—a truly luxurious dish. The Bonito Straw-Grilled had a slightly smoky flavor, enhanced by the kabosu citrus. With a variety of condiments to change up the taste, it was absolutely delicious.

Another must-try is their signature Seared Wagyu Beef. We debated between 200g and 100g, but 100g was just right! Paired with garlic chips, it provided a nice contrast to the fish dishes and is a must-order item.

Finally, the highlight of the meal: the Harakomeshi. First, it’s a feast for the eyes. After admiring its beauty, you mix the generous portions of salmon and ikura together. It’s about 4-5 bowls’ worth of rice, so the portion size is perfect! Adding the mitsuba garnish gives it a gentle flavor, making it the perfect way to end the meal.

We wanted to try dessert, but we were too full! ^^;

Everything was beautifully presented, incredibly delicious, and left us completely satisfied.

Even with a stroller, the staff helped us navigate the entrance step, so we felt very comfortable dining here.
