🍵Sakai, a small but unique city of tea experts and 🔪blacksmiths

Sakai, a city just below Osaka! Sakai is a city that people who usually go to Osaka pass by on the subway. I had a day off before going on a hot spring trip in January, so I went there to have a quick trip.

I had a delicious lunch at a natural health restaurant + cafe near Sakaihigashi Station, and visited Sakai Risho-no-Mori, a Sakai cultural experience center. Inside, there was a luxurious tea room where nobles and generals would drink tea, and a fun course where you can experience the luxurious tea culture while eating delicious green tea and snacks. There is also a small exhibition hall and museum where you can see the history of Sakai, so I recommend going there too!

The next place I went to was Sakai Denshokan, where you can see and even buy knives and iron tools made by Sakai craftsmen. It is a place where various knives are carefully made and displayed, and it was really interesting to see how the size and shape of the knives change depending on the food ingredient being cut.

To be honest, it is a rather small and bland city to go to with high expectations like Osaka or Kyoto, but it is a city with many places to visit for a day. I want to go to the bicycle museum that I couldn't go to this time next time! #Sakai
