Destination: Nestled on a forested mountainside in Sakurai, Hasedera Temple, founded in 686, is affectionately known as the “Temple of Flowers.” From mid‑June to early July, its hillside grounds burst into color with hydrangeas among peonies and rhododendrons, beautifully lining the 399‑step covered corridor ascent to the main hall .

Rough Budget: General admission is ¥500, with optional exhibits (e.g. up‑close Kannon chamber or scroll viewing) bringing an all‑inclusive experience up to ¥1,700. Bus or train fare adds minimal cost, keeping most visits under ¥2,000 .

#1 Travel Hack: Arrive before 9 AM on weekdays for serene photo ops on the hydrangea‑flanked staircase and gentle morning light—also avoid the midday crowds and enjoy temple chants echoing through the quiet valley .
