When I visited Bibi-Khanym Mosque in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, I was simply overwhelmed by its grand scale and breathtaking beauty! ✨
This mosque is a very important historical site, said to have been ordered to be built in the early 15th century by Amir Timur, the founder of the Timurid Empire, to commemorate his return from an expedition to India. It is said to have been built with the aim of being the largest mosque in the world at the time, and as soon as you step inside, you feel as if you have wandered into another world.
The huge dome and minarets, decorated with vivid blue tiles, seem to blend into the blue of the sky, and no matter where you look, it is a painting 📸 What was particularly impressive was the decoration of the walls and pillars, which were decorated with intricate Islamic patterns. Each piece was carefully made by hand by a craftsman, and the delicacy was captivating. The space, where the weight of history and artistry blend together, was truly moving. As I walked through the mosque's courtyard, I could picture in my mind the scene of people gathering here to pray in the past☺️
If you visit Samarkand, Bibi-Khanym Mosque is a must-see spot!
