Sanya Yazhou Bay

Yazhou Bay is a bay located in Yacheng Town, southwest of Sanya City, Hainan Province. The Ningyuan River flows into the top of the bay, and Yacheng is located in the estuary area, which was the ancient administrative center of Yazhou, hence the bay is named Yazhou Bay. Yazhou Bay is an important ancient cultural site in Hainan. In nearly 2000 years of history, Yazhou Bay (Dadu Port) has always been the southernmost commercial port in China, and an important port for the departure and supply of the ancient Maritime Silk Road in China. During the Tang Dynasty, the eminent monk Jianzhen drifted for more than a month due to a typhoon on his fifth voyage to Japan, and finally landed at Yazhou Bay. He dried the scriptures wetted by seawater on the slope of the coast of Yazhou Bay. The locals have called this slope 'Drying Scripture Slope' for generations. The paddy field passed by Master Jianzhen is called 'Monk Field', and Master Jianzhen also built the 'Dayun Temple' on the slope of Yazhou Bay, received the precepts, and pioneered the Buddhist culture of Hainan. Yazhou Bay is the birthplace of the historical and cultural history of Hainan Island and Sanya City. Yacheng Town, where Yazhou Bay is located, is the only town in Hainan Province that has been approved and announced by the State Council as a famous historical and cultural town in China. Without Yazhou Bay, there would be no Yacheng Town, and there would be no long historical and cultural mark of Sanya and even Hainan. Yazhou Bay has a continuous silver-white beach for more than ten kilometers, the brilliant sunset of Yazhou Bay, Nanshan Temple and Dongtian Fudi.
