[Sanya] Curious Traditions of the Li and Miao Peoples Living in Hainan

While vacationing in the Chinese city of Sanya, I visited an ethnographic village of the Li and Miao peoples, who have inhabited these lands for centuries. I learned a lot about their traditions and customs!

🩵 All the girls wear silver crowns, which look beautiful and elegant. The Li and Miao are famous for their silver crafts. The sound of silver is believed to ward off evil spirits. They also make beautiful carpets.

🩵 Many of them live long lives.

🩵 Since ancient times, women have done almost all the difficult work – weaving clothes, building houses, weeding. Men fished, hunted, played musical instruments, and performed their signature bamboo dances!
