Sosei River Park, built in 2011, is located along the Sosei River Street, which divides the central area of Sapporo into east and west. The predecessor of the Sosei River was the "Otomo-no-Hori" canal built during the Edo period. In the early Showa era, this area was particularly lively due to the circus tents and street stalls along the river. In order to preserve the past appearance, a walking path with a total length of 820 meters has been built in the park from South 4 to North 1, and there are stairs that lead down to the river. Beautiful lilac flowers are planted along the walking path, and you can also see the brick art works created by Eiki Danzuka, making you feel like you have come to an outdoor art gallery. Different plots of land have different architectural styles, which are varied and give people a constant sense of freshness while taking a walk. The park also organizes free group tours guided by staff. #2024TravelReview
