
The ruins of the ancient Han city of Chengcun are located 1 km southwest of Chengcun, Xingtian Town, Wuyishan City . The ruins were discovered in 1958. It is one of the best-preserved ancient city sites of the Han Dynasty discovered in Fujian Province, and it is also one of the relatively complete ones in the Jiangnan region of China. It has become an important attraction in the Wuyishan Scenic Area.
Chengcun Hancheng is composed of three east-west hills and high flat land. Its plan is an irregular rectangle, covering approximately 480,000 square meters. The grounds contain well-preserved rammed earth walls, with a measured circumference of 2,896 meters. Beyond the walls, in addition to natural ravines and depressions, there are also traces of moats.
Within the city, the remains of four large-scale building complexes , five ironworks , 15 residential areas , beacon towers, drainage systems, and ancient roads have been discovered. Within the city, Gohupyeong, the central architectural area of Hanseong, uncovered a large palace complex, including the main hall, side wings, courtyards, skylights, and drainage ditches. These structures are remarkably well-preserved, and a large number of pottery, iron, and bronze artifacts have been unearthed. These artifacts include jars, basins, bowls, jars, pots, cups, iron spears, iron swords, bronze arrowheads, and crossbow triggers.
