Since it's Obon season, why not visit a cemetery for a (not-so-serious) pilgrimage?
Tadao Ando's "Hill of the Buddha" is located within the Makomanai Takino Cemetery. Until the end of July, you can witness a hillside covered in lavender, creating waves of purple that surround the central Buddha head. The design, with only the upper half of the Buddha's head emerging from the circular hill, exudes a sense of mystery, inviting visitors to explore further.
The entrance fee is 500 yen. After crossing a water feature and walking through a serene concrete tunnel, you'll be greeted by the 13.5-meter-tall Buddha. In this tranquil and sacred space, gazing upward at the Buddha bathed in natural light evokes a profound sense of solemnity and an understanding of the void and true essence of existence.
