The archway and tower shadow refer to the Zhouzhuang ancient archway and the Quanfu Tower to its northwest. The ancient archway is actually one of the entrances and exits of the Zhouzhuang Ancient Town Scenic Area. It is an antique building with four granite pillars supporting the wooden brackets and the double-eaved ridge roof. It is very imposing and contrasts with the 33-meter-high, five-story hexagonal antique pagoda Quanfu Tower.
The "ancient" archway's name refers to the new archway located west of Quangong Tower. The plaque on the north side, "Zhenfeng Zeguo," was written by Shen Peng. The column couplet, "Zhenjianbuyichengriyangguandaodao, fengyifushixiangyangtaolizizijushi" (a poem reciting by Feng Yingzi and written by Gu Tinglong), is inscribed by Feng Yingzi and Gu Tinglong. The plaque on the south side, "Tangfengjiejieyi" (a relic of Tang Dynasty style), was written by the left-handed Fei Xinwo. The column couplet, "Ten thousand expanses of blue water shimmer, only on a clear day is it beautiful; the hundred-foot tower towering across the clouds casts a shadow, the scenery is also wondrous," was composed and inscribed by Zhou Huitian, borrowing lines from an ancient poem.
